a story about trust and the complications of love
Laura is swept along by the charms of Rose and William, an eccentric older couple that she meets in a Brighton café. Her friendship quickly deepens first with Rose, as she supports her through a terminal illness and then with William after he loses his wife. When her relationship with Will takes an unexpected turn, Laura faces disapproval from not only those she is close to but strangers, too.
With the discovery that Rose’s influence is greater than she realized, Laura is shocked into looking back over their friendship to find her own truth, and to understand the complications of loving another person.
